The Pac-12 is set on a 20-game conference schedule for each team during the 2020-21 basketball season, per CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.
Rothstein added two league games will be held in December.
Last season, the Arizona State Sun Devils played a total of 31 games, going 20-11 against Pac-12 opponents and nonconference teams. The Arizona Wildcats finished the year at 21-11. The Wildcats were able to play a Pac-12 tournament game, a win over the Washington Huskies, before play was stopped due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Sun Devils’ meeting with the Washington State Cougars in the tournament was canceled before they could take the court.
The NCAA Division I Council announced Sept. 16 it had voted to begin the 2020-21 college basketball season on Nov. 25, the day before Thanksgiving. The council is slated to meet in mid-October to again address men’s and women’s basketball and vote on any possible amendments.
The news of the Pac-12 hoops schedule comes following the plan to resume football in the conference on Nov. 6. The season will feature six regular season games within the conference and conclude with the Pac-12 Championship Game on Dec. 19.
The conference added that any sporting competitions taking place on the campus of a Pac-12 school will not be allowed to have fans. That will run through the end of the year before the conference revisits the decision in January based on health and safety considerations.
