Former Arizona Cardinals 2019 fourth-round draft pick Hakeem Butler is now a Philadelphia Eagle.
Butler was signed Tuesday by the Eagles off of the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad.
The Eagles plan to transition the second-year player from wide receiver to tight end.
Butler, a product of Iowa State, was waived by the Cardinals in early September after spending his rookie season on IR with a broken hand.
“It just wasn’t working here and so we allowed him to go somewhere else,” Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said when Butler was first released. “I hope it works out for him because we did enjoy him while he was here.”
Butler is set to take the place of TE Dallas Goedert, who suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s matchup against the Bengals.
