After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for May 1, 2011: Diamondbacks 4, Cubs 3
The Arizona Diamondbacks managed to split their four-game home series with the Chicago Cubs in Sunday’s 4-3 win.
Arizona wasn’t particularly impressive with the bats only amassing five total hits.
However, Ryan Roberts continued to impress hitting his sixth home run of the season.
Starter Daniel Hudson seems to be getting his form of last season back only giving up three runs in seven innings pitched.
If Hudson can start to really get going, it could go a long way towards getting the bullpen some rest on days he starts.
The bullpen duo of David Hernandez and J.J. Putz closed the door in the eighth and ninth inning as they have throughout the season to this point.
It’s been nice to have those two as reliable late-inning options for manager Kirk Gibson so far.
The Diamondbacks continue their homestand against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.
