College football oddsmakers see promise with the 2020 version of the Arizona State Sun Devils. The rival Arizona Wildcats, not so much.
BetOnline.ag’s futures odds posted Monday set ASU’s win total for a seven-game schedule at 4.5 games, while putting money on the Wildcats would lead to a push if Arizona wins just a single contest.
Arizona State is replacing both of head coach Herm Edwards’ coordinators but projections have a high bar with talented quarterback Jayden Daniels returning after an impressive freshman year.
The Sun Devils open on the road against a USC team with a win total over/under set at 5.5 and then play at home against California (4.5). ASU will then face Colorado (1.5), Utah (4.5) and UCLA (3.5) before closing against Arizona.
Arizona went 4-8 a year ago but lost its final seven games before a number of projected starters transferred out of the program this offseason. Like the Sun Devils, the Wildcats play the rest of the Pac-12 South but will face Washington (4.5) as their single Pac-12 North game.
Both Arizona and ASU avoid Pac-12 favorite Oregon (6).
All teams in the conference will play a to-be-determined seventh game on a weekend that will host the Pac-12 Championship.
