D-backs send Enright to Reno, reinstate Heilman from DL

May 5, 2011, 8:57 PM | Updated: 10:00 pm

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Thursday that they have optioned right-handed starting pitcher Barry Enright to Triple-A Reno and reinstated right-handed relief pitcher Aaron Heilman from the 15-day disabled list.

The 25-year-old Enright has struggled this season posting a 1-3 record and 6.49 ERA with 15 walks and 19 strikeouts in six starts. It was a far cry from his first season in the majors where he posted a 3.91 ERA with 29 walks and 49 strikeouts.

With an off day on Monday, it looks like the Diamondbacks will likely skip Enright’s next turn in the rotation before deciding on who their fifth starting pitcher will be.

Heilman, who started for the club in the spring, looks like he’ll return to the bullpen. Prior to being placed on the disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis on April 15, he had struggled posting a 12.15 ERA in 6.2 innings pitched.
