The Arizona Cardinals are bringing in free agent cornerback Prince Amukamara within the next few days with the intention of signing the veteran, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports Amukamara will sign with the Cardinals once he passes COVID-19 tests.

Amukamara, 31, spent last season with the Chicago Bears, starting all 15 games he played. Originally the 19th overall pick by the New York Giants in the 2011 NFL Draft, Amukamara has 99 starts and 10 interceptions to his name in the NFL.

The Glendale, Ariz., native out of Apollo High School played his first five seasons with the Giants before one year in Jacksonville and was in Chicago for his last three.

The Cardinals’ secondary, particularly at cornerback, has underwhelmed this season. Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson has not looked to have regained his elite form while 2019 second-round pick Byron Murphy still has yet to make a major impact. Robert Alford was ruled out for the rest of the season in mid-August, and veteran Dre Kirkpatrick was signed to replace him.
