Arizona Cardinals outside linebacker Chandler Jones will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of what the team believes is a biceps injury.

Jones on Sunday left the Cardinals’ 30-10 win against the New York Jets in the second quarter with the arm injury.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Monday that the MRI results will give Arizona a better sense of whether Jones will require surgery or if he will be able to return.

“We’ll kind of go from there, know the exact options that are on the table after that,” Kingsbury said, not ruling anything out.

On Sunday after the game, Kingsbury said a biceps injury “probably” would end Jones’ season, but the coach stopped short of that Monday, adding that he’s hopeful the Cardinals can sit down and discuss some options with their premier pass-rusher.

Asked if he was “all good” by one Twitter user, Jones’ reply Monday morning wasn’t what the Cardinals and their fans want to hear.

“Physically. No,” he replied.

In basic statistical terms, Jones had been quiet thus far in 2020 with 11 tackles, a single sack and a fumble recovery after Sunday’s game. His presence, however, had helped a front that is tied for the seventh-most sacks (14) in the NFL.

“They definitely know where he’s at,” Kingsbury said last week of opponents trying to keep Jones off their quarterbacks. “They’re sliding protections that way, using backs, tight ends, and the ball’s coming out quick.

“I think once again through this first month, guys are finding their football legs and I expect his production to pick up. I thought he played a really nice game (against the Panthers). The sack production just hasn’t been there.”

Even though Jones didn’t record a sack against the Jets, he forced three hurries on New York’s Joe Flacco, according to Pro Football Focus.

Haason Reddick, Kylie Fitts and Dennis Gardeck all earned more snaps when Jones left the field on Sunday. The Cardinals could also welcome back starting outside linebacker Devon Kennard for a Monday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys after he missed the Jets game with a calf injury.
