Sean Burroughs back in Majors after almost four years

Sean Burroughs will never be confused for Robert Redford, but he might get mistaken for Roy Hobbs some day. After an almost four year layoff from baseball, the former Padres prospect has returned to the majors with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Like Hobbs, Burroughs disappeared in the prime of his career after showing promise only to try and make a comeback later in life. The reasons for both players’ absence from the game were quite mysterious.

“I was living a hard life,” Burroughs said. “I was doing things that I’m not too happy about. I learned from those mistakes. I had to take a step back and look at my life. It wasn’t heading in any kind of positive direction. I had a lot of support from friends and family to get my butt back in gear.”
