After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for May 19, 2011: Diamondbacks 2, Braves 1
The Good:
Josh Collmenter threw a game any new starting pitcher would dream of. He allowed no runs on only two hits in his six innings of work. He has not given up a run in either of his starts this year.
The Bad:
Kelly Johnson, the only non-pitching Diamondback in Thursday’s starting line-up hitting under .200, watched his average sink further as he went 0-4 with one strikeout on the night. Johnson needs to turn it around soon.
The Funky:
Collmenter has not allowed any runs in his first twelve innings of pitching as a starter. That’s good enough for a D-backs record. Collmenter replaces Micah Owings’ 11-inning mark set in 2007.
