time to go Inside the Box for May 24, 2011: Diamondbacks 5, Rockies 2

The Arizona Diamondbacks managed to get a split of their doubleheader against the Colorado Rockies with a 5-2 win in Game 2.

Joe Saunders had his best start of the season going eight innings only giving up two runs on six hits.

The D-backs starter lowered his ERA to 4.65 on the way to getting his first win of the season.

Saunders has slowly gotten better and better as the season has progressed.

It was crucial for Saunders to pitch deep into this game after Arizona had to use up almost their entire bullpen in the first game.

J.J. Putz came on in the ninth inning and closed it out making him now 13-for-13 in save chances this season.

The D-backs took command early with Kelly Johnson homering in the first inning.

Johnson and Stephen Drew each had two hits for Arizona.

The D-backs(24-24) continue their four-game series against the Rockies on Wednesday.
