Inside the Box: Nationals are here to play

After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for June 2, 2011: Nationals 6, Diamondbacks 1

The Good:

The D-backs rally showed signs of life, but sometimes signs are wrong. Despite losing, the D-backs managed seven hits. Gerardo Parra made a bad base running decision in the third but made up for it in the seventh when he brought in Montero for the D-backs’ sole run.

The Bad:

Zach Duke could have been better. The D-backs starter, coming off of a great win in Houston, got his first taste this season of a semi-decent order. Duke gave up 10 hits and four earned runs in his five innings.

The Funky:

Kelly Johnson’s eight-game hit streak came to an end Thursday. The last time he did not have a hit in a game was May 24 against Colorado.
