time to go Inside the Box for June 5, 2011: Nationals 9, Diamondbacks 4
The Arizona Diamondbacks never give up, but they still fell short in their 9-4 loss to the Nationals on Sunday in 11 innings.
Arizona trailed 4-0 in the eighth inning, but the team rallied to send the game to extra innings where the bullpen fell apart.
Joe Paterson had his first real rough outing as a pro giving up five runs in the 11th inning.
Starter Ian Kennedy had a solid outing only giving up one run on five hits in seven innings pitched.
Kelly Johnson hit a home run in the eighth inning to get the rally started for the D-backs and then Arizona tacked on three more runs in the ninth to send the game to extra innings.
Arizona (33-27) fell a half game behind the San Francisco Giants in the NL West with the loss.
The D-backs will look to get back on track as they head out on the road to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday.
