Inside the Box: Duke only goes five

Jun 19, 2011, 2:05 AM | Updated: 3:10 am

After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for June 18, 2011: White Sox 6, Diamondbacks 2

The Good:

The D-backs showed their offensive potential in the fourth inning on Saturday night. Before the White Sox knew what hit them, Bloomquist and Drew were on second and third with no outs. On a passed ball, Bloomquist made it in to score and Drew moved to third. Upton sac-flyed out to bring Drew in. Had the D-backs kept up this offensive pressure the entire game, the score would have been much different.

The Bad:

Zach Duke did not have a good start for the D-backs. Aside from giving up three runs, the starter gave up seven hits and only struck out two. He got the loss on the night and is making us wonder where if his first start in Houston was a fluke.

Micah Owings also gave up three runs on an eight inning home run by Alex Rios. He only threw two innings.

The Ugly:

In just 7.1 innings, starter Zach Duke and reliever Micah Owings combined for 121 pitches, just 11 more than White Sox starter John Danks.
