The Miami Dolphins are in the NFL’s intensive protocols after an assistant coach tested positive for coronavirus on Friday.

That coach immediately quarantined, and the Dolphins said they are doing contact tracing and working with the training staff and NFL officials.

Head coach Brian Flores told reporters that the team plans to travel to Arizona and feels confident the virus will be contained.

The news comes as Miami prepares to travel to Arizona for a Sunday game at State Farm Stadium against the Cardinals. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the team expected to conduct a walk-through on Friday morning and the game against Arizona remained on as scheduled.

ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe added that the team had planned to go through a more intensive workout before changing plans to only do a walk-through.

For the Cardinals, this isn’t the first Friday coronavirus scare coming from an opposing team.

In Week 5, as they prepared to board a plane to face the New York Jets, the Cardinals learned a Jets player had tested positive for COVID-19. That ended up being a false positive test, and the game went on without hiccups.

Arizona itself suffered a major blow due to coronavirus during its Week 8 bye. Starting outside linebacker Devon Kennard and starting nickel Byron Murphy both tested positive for the virus over the weekend and were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday.

As of Friday morning, the Cardinals had not reported another positive COVID-19 case.
