After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for June 22, 2011: Diamondbacks 3, Royals 2
The Good:
The fifth inning for the Diamondbacks ended up being all they needed. They were able to score three runs on four hits (they had five for the game). That was the inning they got to Royals starter Jeff Francis.
The Bad:
Tough to find anything bad in an one-run win on the road to keep them in first place but if there was a bad it would have to be the other eight offensive innings. Other than the fifth inning the Diamondbacks never really threatned to score any runs.
The Funky:
The Diamondbacks won the game 3-2. They had five hits and the Royals had 11 hits. It’s a good thing in baseball you only count runs. The Diamondbacks got hits when they needed them and the Royals (cleary) did not.
Good for the Diamondbacks. They are guaranteed to wake up Thursday morning in first place of the NL West.
