After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for June 24, 2011: Diamondbacks 7, Tigers 6
The Good:
Wily Mo Pena hit his second home run in his first week since being recalled from the team and it was a big one giving the D-backs their first lead of the game in the eighth inning.
Also, Justin Upton reached base four times with two hits and two walks.
Xavier Nady had a huge two-out hit in the fifth inning with the bases loaded to drive in two key runs.
The D-backs in general were clutch at the plate going 5-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
The D-backs bullpen was phenomenal throwing five innings of shutout baseball allowing only three hits.
The Bad:
Starter Zach Duke continued his struggles getting rocked for six earned runs in only four innings of work.
Duke may be in danger of losing his spot if he doesn’t start to get it going soon.
