The Diamondbacks, seeking help for a recently-beleaguered bullpen, called up relievers Yhency Brazoban and Alberto Castillo Tuesday.
The D-backs optioned Esmerling Vasquez and Bryan Shaw to Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move.
Brazoban, 30-year-old veteran, joined the D-backs after pitching in parts of five Major League seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He had a 2.70 ERA in 10 innings of work with the Reno Aces, and is 10-12 with a 4.70 ERA in the Majors.
Castillo, 35, tallied a 1.50 ERA and nine strikeouts in five games with the Aces. Before joining the D-backs organization he pitched in parts of three Major League seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, tallying a 2-0 record and 4.81 ERA.
