Arizona Cardinals safety Jalen Thompson was ruled out for the rest of Thursday’s game after suffering a leg injury.
In the second quarter against the Seattle Seahawks with 19 seconds left, Thompson went to make a tackle when his right foot got caught in the turf. Thompson wanted to get off the field so the clock kept running, but was in too much pain and play was stopped.
Thompson did not put any weight on his right leg as he was helped off the field and onto the cart.
The defensive back was placed on injured reserve after Week 1 due to an ankle injury that left him sidelined for the Cardinals’ next six games. Thompson returned after the bye week in Week 9 for Arizona’s loss to the Miami Dolphins.
In three games, Thompson entered Thursday with 11 tackles and one pass defensed.
The Arizona defense has been hit hard by injuries, with defensive linemen Corey Peters and Jordan Phillips being added to injured reserve ahead of the Seattle game. They joined the likes of cornerback Robert Alford, pass rusher Chandler Jones and defensive linemen Leki Fotu and Zach Allen, who are all out.
