The 2020-21 Arizona State Sun Devils men’s basketball season is finally upon us.

After the coronavirus pandemic abruptly ended ASU’s 2019-20 campaign back in March, head coach Bobby Hurley is ready to lead his side in what will be his sixth season at the helm.

The Sun Devils released the first nine games of their season on Friday, including all seven of their non-conference contests.

Arizona State will tip off the 2020-21 campaign with two games in the Mohegan Sun tournament in Connecticut.

The first will be the season-opener against Baylor on Nov. 25, followed by a matchup with either Boston College or Villanova the very next day on Thanksgiving.

ASU will then open up their home schedule when they host Houston Baptist at Desert Financial Arena on Nov. 29 and San Diego State on Dec. 10.

However, a conference matchup on the road against Cal is sprinkled in between on Dec. 3.

The Sun Devils will also be making a quick trip to GCU Arena when they take on Grand Canyon University on Dec. 13. The matchup will be the first between the two schools in which the Lopes are competing as a recognized playoff-eligible Division I program.

Arizona State will then close out the non-conference slate with back-to-back home contests against UTEP (Dec. 16) and Incarnate Word (Dec. 18) before returning to conference play at Desert Financial Arena against Utah (Dec. 22).

“It’s been our philosophy: We want to seek out high-profile games, opportunities for our players to measure ourselves against some of the better teams in the country and we’ve done that just about every year I’ve been here,” Hurley said via Zoom on Friday.

“This year we had some cancellations, so we had to shuffle some things around a bit.”
