Veteran Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the team’s road game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

The team on Thursday placed both Fitzgerald and wide receiver Trent Sherfield on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, but did not mention if either player had tested positive.

Fitzgerald has started in 94 straight games dating back to the Week 14 of the 2014 regular season.

His consecutive games streak is the longest active one among NFL wide receivers.

The former Pitt Panther has 43 catches and 336 receiving yards this year, ranking second on the team in the former category and third in the latter.

Fitzgerald has 17,419 receiving yards and 120 touchdowns in his 17-season NFL career, all with the Cardinals.

Fitzgerald would be the fifth Cardinals player to be on the reserve/COVID list, along with safety Deionte Thompson, wide receiver KeeSean Johnson, cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. and pass rusher Devon Kennard.

The Cardinals play the New England Patriots at 11 a.m. MST on Sunday as they look for their first win in Foxborough since 2012.
