The Arizona Cardinals will not allow fans to enter State Farm Stadium when they host the Los Angeles Rams on Dec. 6, the team announced Friday.

This comes based on guidance from the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Arizona had allowed 4,200 fans in the stadium during their last two home games, which were against the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 8 and the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 15. However, with rising COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths in the state this month, the Cardinals will start December without fans in the stadium.

Families of players and staff will be allowed to attend at a limited capacity.

ADHS has reported more than 4,000 coronavirus cases in five of the last nine days, numbers that had not been seen since rates peaked in July.

On Thursday, Arizona had 2,301 hospital inpatients that were confirmed or suspected of COVID-19 and 532 COVID-19 patients in ICU beds, both of which have more than doubled since the start of November.

The Cardinals will have two more home games after playing the Rams. On Dec. 20 they play the Philadelphia Eagles and on Dec. 27 they host the San Francisco 49ers.

There has yet to be a decision on whether fans will be allowed to attend either of those games.
