The Arizona Cardinals inactives list for their road game against the New England Patriots included Brett Hundley, meaning the team must feel confident that starting quarterback Kyler Murray will be just fine playing through a shoulder injury that limited him in practice this week.
Murray sprained his AC joint in his throwing shoulder in a battle against the Seattle Seahawks two Thursdays ago but by this Friday was a full-go in practice. He will be backed up by Chris Streveler against New England.
The Cardinals considered having three active quarterbacks for the Week 12 matchup had Murray’s status been more up in the air.
Joining Hundley on the inactives list is rookie running back Eno Benjamin, safety Jalen Thompson (ankle), offensive tackle Josh Miles and offensive guard Justin Murray (hand).
Backup safety Charles Washington is active after being listed as questionable to play with a groin issue. That gives Arizona limited depth with Jalen Thompson and Deionte Thompson (COVID-19 reserve) out for the Patriots game; Washington is the only only safety left on the depth chart behind starters Budda Baker and Chris Banjo.
The Cardinals’ injury report Friday said Jalen Thompson would be out due to an ankle injury. The team also ruled out tight end Darrell Daniels (ankle) and defensive end Josh Mauro (hamstring), and they were placed on the IR on Saturday.
For the Patriots, backup quarterback Brian Hoyer, rookie running back J.J. Taylor, defensive end Tashawn Bower, defensive tackle Byron Coward and receiver Isaiah Ford are inactive for the game at Gillette Stadium.
