After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and
provide you with instant analysis. So it’s time to go
Inside the Box for July
19, 2011: Brewers 11, Diamondbacks 3
The Good:
Brandon Allen hit a mammoth home run in the fifth inning that has to go down as one of the longest home runs of the season.
Allen figures to get a long look over at first base and more nights like tonight will only help his case for sticking with the Diamondbacks.
Justin Upton had been struggling but might have started to break out of his slump by getting two hits and driving in a run in the first inning.
The Bad:
Barry Enright was called up from the Minors to take Zach Duke’s spot in the rotation, but he struggled and didn’t last long.
Enright gave up six runs in three innings including four home runs in the process.
Zach Duke relieved Enright and didn’t fare much better giving up three runs in two innings.
It might behoove the D-backs to look deeper in their farm system for another starter the next time around the rotation.
Enright’s ERA on the season rose to 7.41 with tonight’s dreadful performance.
Sam Demel gave up the fifth Brewer home run in the ninth inning.
