ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

Don’t write the D-backs off just yet

Four-and-a-half games out of first place with their starting short stop now out for the season, it would be easy to say the Diamondbacks’ surprising playoff push is all but officially over.

Not so fast, says Sports 620 KTAR’s John Gambadoro.

“I am not ready to say that this season is not worth it,” Gambo said on the Gambo and Ash show Thursday in response to possibly making a trade.

Gambadoro points to the tough schedule the San Francisco Giants have to play as reason enough to think the Diamondbacks can stay in it, even with Drew’s injury.

“They’ve got a tough stretch coming up here and Arizona gets them three times.”

As has been noted, the Diamondbacks themselves have a fairly easy stretch of games in the season’s second half.

Still, it’s up to the Diamondbacks to win enough games in order to close the gap.
