After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and
provide you with instant analysis. So it’s time to go
Inside the Box for July
27, 2011: Padres 4, Diamondbacks 3

The Good:

Brandon Allen homered, his third of the year, and drove in three runs on the day. He also walked twice.

Miguel Montero also had a nice day with the bat, as he collected a pair of hits. Justin Upton also hit a double.

The Bad:

The Diamondbacks had to feel pretty good about going for the sweep with Daniel Hudson on the mound, but he lasted just six innings after giving up seven hits and four runs. He struck out six, but the D-backs were hoping for better out of a guy who is one of their better pitchers.

The Funky:

D-backs reliever Brian Shaw recorded four outs in the game, three of which via the strikeout.
