The Arizona Cardinals named Corey Peters as their 2020 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year due to his contributions on the field and in the community.
It’s Peters’ second recognition for the award that includes a nomination for one player on every NFL team each year. He first was nominated in 2011 as a member of the Atlanta Falcons.
The NFL will gift Peters $40,000 to give to the charity of his choice, and he is one of the 32 eligible candidates to win the league’s Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year honor. That national winner will be announced the week of Super Bowl LV and receive a $250,000 donation to a charity of their choice.
Peters has continued growing the Peters Education Enrichment Project (PEEP) since 2012 to help children develop life skills and leadership abilities.
The 32-year-old started a bi-weekly book club in Phoenix’s South Pointe School District.

He also, with the help of the Harvest Compassion Center, donated Thanksgiving turkeys to families in the school district this year and handed out care packages to families in need back in July.
Peters has involved himself in skills camps for school-age players and has also been outspoken about social justice reform, education reform and the importance of voting.
The Cardinals captain recorded 15 tackles and two sacks this season before a knee injured ended his season after nine games played.
