The Arizona Cardinals defense stepped up right away and forced a fumble on the New York Giants opening possession Sunday.
Unfortunately, the unit was hit with some collateral damage on the strip-sack.
Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips left the game in the first quarter and is questionable to return due to a hamstring injury, Arizona Sports’ Paul Calvisi reports.
Phillips had one tackle before leaving the game.
It’s another setback for the defensive tackle, who was activated from injured reserve on Saturday after dealing with a hamstring issue.
Per Darren Urban, it is the same hamstring injury that kept Phillips on the shelf for a month.
Phillips’ last game played before going down with the injury was in the team’s Week 9 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
In eight games this season, Phillips has recorded 10 tackles, one for loss, 2.0 sacks, a pass deflection, two forced fumbles and three QB hits.
The Cardinals will turn to defensive lineman Angelo Blackson to pick up the reps left behind by Phillips.
Joining Phillips on the sideline was offensive lineman Justin Pugh, who is also questionable to return due to a calf injury.
