Arizona Diamondbacks still willing to add a piece

The Arizona Diamondbacks are in sole position of first place in the NL West for the first time since June. If you told most people back in March they would be in contention this late in the season, let alone in first place, they probably would have laughed at you.
While expectations weren’t exactly high for the D-backs, team president Derrick Hall doesn’t see his club going away anytime soon.
“I think this team is going to be in it,” Hall told Sports 620 KTAR’s Doug and Wolf. “I think they believe in themselves. They’re gritty enough. They grind it out. I think they’re going to be there till the end.”
Just because Hall believes in his team and they seem to believe in themselves doesn’t mean the D-backs would hesitate if they could add a player to strengthen their playoff chances before the waiver trade deadline.
“If there’s a deal out there that makes a lot of sense we’re going to do it,” Hall said. “By no means are we finished. We didn’t just say ‘we made our two moves, we’re done.’ We’re going to do all we can to continue to improve. If it makes sense for the team and we don’t mortgage the future. We’ve got guys in the system that we don’t want to move and they are labeled as untouchables.”
