Cardinals’ Isaiah Simmons boosts PFF rating after solid showing vs. Giants
Arizona Cardinals rookie Isaiah Simmons upped his season-long Pro Football Focus overall rating this week to 62.3 after a solid showing against the New York Giants.
His overall grade in the 26-7 victory was 65.8.
In 27 snaps played, 21 came in coverage, where the linebacker marked a strong 75.0 grade.
However, he recorded a season-low grade in tackling at 29.0.
Simmons recorded two tackles, missed one and gave up both catches when he was thrown to against the Giants.
Still, the former Clemson Tiger holds a 74.9 grade for tackling on the season.
The football analytics site said that Simmons is beginning to come into his own with the help of his coaches.
This is the role that the team has been crafting for Simmons, and generally, he has been solid in it. He did miss a tackle in this game, and his work against the run has been more hit and miss, but Simmons has certainly flashed the ability to make a difference on this defense going forward.
Simmons is the second-highest ranked rookie linebacker behind the Atlanta Falcons’ Mykal Walker (75.4 overall).
