Report: Arizona Diamondbacks closing in on Andrew Chafin

Aug 14, 2011, 8:48 PM | Updated: 9:48 pm

The Arizona Diamondbacks are close to agreeing terms with Andrew Chafin, the 43rd overall pick in the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft, according to reports.

Chafin was selected out of Kent State.

Being a lefty with good velocity and size, Chafin is a shoe-in for any MLB bullpen, but, if he works on his off-speed pitches, Chafin could very well become a starting pitcher.

With fellow draft pick Trevor Bauer signed and already working his way through the system, it would be surprising to see Chafin hold out for much longer.
