Diamondbacks’ Jerry DiPoto considered top GM candidate

Jerry, DiPoto, the Senior Vice President of Scouting & Player Development for the Arizona Diamondbacks could find himself with a new title at the start of the next baseball season.
MLBTradeRumors.com ranked DiPoto as the number one candidate for ball clubs in need of a new general manager.
While the list does not include former GMs and those who did not receive more than three votes, DiPoto has definitely earned his spot on the list.
Last season, the D-backs were bad. Plain and simple. They had some promising players and the manager to get it done, as evidenced by this season, but they weren’t winning games and fans could have cared less about them.
Enter Jerry DiPoto.
He made some major moves as the trade deadline loomed in 2010 and stocked the team for success. Large — and unproductive — salary drains like Chris Snyder and Edwin Jackson were off-loaded in favor of workable talent, such as ace Daniel Hudson.
Most were surprised that DiPoto was not given the nod when the organization was selecting a new GM. Kevin Towers has done an excellent job, but DiPoto set him up.
Hopefully DiPoto remains with the D-backs and keeps doing an excellent job, but if he decides to go, it will not be a surprise.
