The San Francisco 49ers will play their 2020 regular season finale against the Seattle Seahawks on Jan. 3 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., due to an extension of COVID-19 restrictions in their home county.
A ban on contact sports in Santa Clara County had already forced the Niners to play their Week 13 and 14 scheduled home games at the Arizona Cardinals’ home stadium.
At the end of November, Santa Clara County officials issued directives barring the 49ers from playing at their Levi’s Stadium in response to rising cases of coronavirus in the area. The rules were initially set to expire on Dec. 21, but San Francisco planned for an extended stay in Arizona.
The 49ers played their scheduled home games at State Farm Stadium on Dec. 7 against Buffalo and Dec. 13 against Washington. Both were losses.
The matchup against the Bills, a 34-24 defeat, was featured on Monday Night Football.
San Francisco already had a Week 16 visit to State Farm Stadium for a Cardinals home game. That will be played Saturday, Dec. 26.
The 49ers will play their final road game this week against the Dallas Cowboys.
