Diamondbacks’ Derrick Hall: ‘We have been looking’

It was reported Wednesday that the Arizona Diamondbacks are interested in acquiring Reds shortstop Edgar Renteria.
Renteria, of course, would provide depth at a position the D-backs are thin at and a veteran presence for a team hoping to make a playoff run.
Asked about the possibility on Sports 620 KTAR’s Doug and Wolf, D-backs President Derrick Hall essentially plead the fifth.
“I can’t talk about any players on any other team,” he said. “But I will tell you we have been looking, we have been kicking the tires.”
Hall continued to say GM Kevin Towers has been looking for help in the infield, watching the waiver wire and exploring trade opportunities.
“We’re going to be aggressive,” he said. “Our town is excited about our franchise right now, about this team, about the direction. We want to go to the playoffs, our fans deserve it.
“So we’re going to do everything we can to do it.”
That has to be music to any D-backs fan’s ears. Chances are the team won’t have to surrender a top prospect to make a deal for anyone now, meaning the team should absolutely be looking for help.
The Diamondbacks are in good position to win the NL West and make the playoffs for the first time since 2007, but they appear ready and willing to improve on what they have now.
No one should be upset over that.
