Arizona State football relied on the ground game in the rainy Corvallis night matchup against Oregon State, rushing 42 times for 375 yards in the 46-33 win.

With the victory, the Sun Devils finish the season 2-2. They will not participate in a bowl game should they receive an invite, head coach Herm Edwards said after the game.

Here are some numbers that define ASU’s victory:

100+

Junior running back Rachaad White surpassed 100 all-purpose yards in all four games this season.

On Saturday, he ran for 158 yards on 13 carries and caught two passes for 28 yards. He finished the season with 420 rushing yards on just 42 carries and 151 receiving yards on eight receptions. He averaged 142.75 yards from scrimmage per game.

50+

White’s stats were aided by his big-play ability. He had a 51-yard carry in the first quarter and a 55-yard touchdown run in the third.

He had five plays this season that went for more than 50 yards.

In the opening week against USC, White had a 55-yard touchdown reception. Against UCLA, White had a 51-yard reception on a trick play in which wide receiver Ricky Pearsall threw the pass. In the win over Arizona, White had a 93-yard touchdown run.

2

Sophomore quarterback Jayden Daniels had two rushing touchdowns against OSU, the first time a Sun Devil quarterback has done so since Manny Wilkins on Nov. 10, 2018.

His 53-yard touchdown was the longest rush of his career.

Daniels finished the season with four rushing touchdowns. He had 33 carries for 223 yards.

On Saturday, he surpassed the 500-yard rushing yard mark over his career.

306

ASU did not waste plays. On 27 first downs, the Sun Devils racked up 306 total yards, just below 60% of its total 514 yards from scrimmage in the game.

Twenty-one of those plays were rushes, which amassed a total of 223 yards. The other six were passes, four of which were completed, including a 63-yard touchdown to Geordon Porter.

Five of ASU’s touchdowns came on a first down; two of them were insde the five-yard line, one was Porter’s deep reception, one was a 29-yard rushing touchdown by sophomore wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and one was Daniels’ 53-yarder.

3

Senior safety Evan Fields’ forced fumble was his third in just four games this season.

He posted a marvelous performance against Oregon State, racking up 10 total tackles, nine of which were solo.

Those 10 tackles led the team. Senior graduate safety De’Andre Pierce had nine, one of which was a tackle for loss, and an interception. Redshirt junior linebacker Kyle Soelle also had nine tackles.

46

ASU’s 46 points were the most OSU had allowed in a game this season, and the Sun Devils’ 26 points in the first half was the most the Beavers allowed in a half.

After combining for 45 points over the first two games of the season, ASU put up 116 over its final two outings.
