The Arizona State Sun Devils and Arizona Wildcats will not suit up for each of their upcoming games this week.

The Arizona State men’s basketball game scheduled for Tuesday against Utah has been postponed, the Sun Devils announced Sunday.

Utah has a positive coronavirus case within its program, ASU said.

In the full statement, ASU said:

Utah has made us aware that our game scheduled for Tuesday, December 22, will have to be postponed due to a confirmed case of COVID-19 within its program. Arizona State will work with the Pac-12 Conference and Utah to attempt to find a mutually agreeable date to reschedule the contest.

The Sun Devils (4-3) will have to wait another week before getting back on the court following their 76-63 loss to UTEP.

Instead of beginning the bulk of their conference play Tuesday, the Sun Devils will resume Pac-12 play on Dec. 31 at Washington State. This game will be followed by a Jan. 2 matchup at Washington. ASU’s is 1-0 in the Pac-12 this season after beating Cal on Dec. 3.

The Sun Devils opened the season with a win over Rhode Island before falling to Villanova. They took down Houston Baptist and Cal, but have struggled in the last three games, losing to San Diego State and UTEP and beating Grand Canyon by just one point.

Utah is 4-1 this season with wins against Washington, Idaho State, Utah Valley and Idaho.

ASU and Utah will attempt to reschedule the game. The two are currently scheduled to play again on Feb. 6 in Utah.

Additionally, ASU women’s basketball was forced to cancel Sunday’s matchup against Colorado due to “an abundance of caution with COVID-19 protocols within the Buffaloes’ women’s basketball program.”

As for the Wildcats, their Monday matchup against San Diego has been canceled due to a COVID-19 related concern within USD’s program.

Arizona’s next matchup is scheduled for Dec. 22 against Montana.

The Wildcats will look to bounce back after losing 78-75 on Saturday night.
