The Arizona Cardinals placed wide receiver A.J. Richardson on the practice squad injured reserve list with a groin injury Tuesday.
Additionally, the team released defensive lineman P.J. Johnson from the practice squad.
Richardson signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2019 out of Boise State. He was released on Aug. 31 that same year before signing with Arizona’s practice squad Sept. 1. He was then cut a day later and was re-signed to the Cardinals practice squad on Sept. 30. He signed a future contract with the Cardinals last December.
In 53 career games (22 starts) at Boise State, the wideout recorded 99 receptions for 1,474 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Johnson was signed to the practice squad on Nov. 24.
The defensive lineman, who played college ball at Arizona, was a seventh-round draft pick for the Detroit Lions in 2019. He ended up spending time on the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad last season and was with the Seahawks this year during training camp.
In his lone season as a Wildcat, Johnson recorded 31 tackles, 8.5 for losses and three sacks. He also played collegiately for Sacramento State and City College of San Francisco.
