Inside the Box: Rough welcome to majors for Miley

After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the

Inside the Box for
August 20, 2011: Braves 8, Diamondbacks 1
The Good:
At least Miguel Montero remembers how to swing a bat. The D-backs catcher has been one of the only D-backs to consistently hit in the road trip so far. He may have only managed one hit on Saturday, but it was good enough to score the D-backs’ lone run.
The Bad:
Recent call-up Wade Miley would have preferred a better start to the night – and his team is probably wishing the same. In his first MLB start, Miley looked good until watching his first ever major league fastball get crushed for a two-run homer in the first inning by Dan Uggla. In his five innings, Miley gave up five earned runs on seven hits. He did strike out five, demonstrating why the D-backs called him up.
The Ugly:
Saturday’s loss puts the D-backs’ current losing streak at four games.
