Cardinals trail 49ers after sleepy 1st half

The Arizona Cardinals trailed the San Francisco 49ers 7-6 at halftime of their Week 16 game at State Farm Stadium.
Fighting for their playoff lives on Saturday, the Cardinals saw quarterback Kyler Murray go 16-of-27 for 118 yards in the first half.
Arizona drove methodically down the field on its first possession of the game only for things to stall at the San Francisco 10-yard line. Mike Nugent was forced to hit a 27-yard field goal, and he tacked on another on the final Cardinals drive of the first half.
San Francisco’s offense, led by third-string quarterback C.J. Beathard, befuddled Arizona with misdirection throughout the first half.
The 49ers’ rushing attack took advantage with 13 carries for 86 yards (6.6 yards per attempt).
Beathard went 5-of-9 for 87 yards and a 21-yard touchdown pass to running back Jeff Wilson Jr. at the 2:51 mark of the first quarter.
Injury issues cropped up for Arizona as well. Leader sacker Haason Reddick left to the locker room but returned to play through a tweaked hamstring, and running back Chase Edmonds was questionable to return with a hip injury.
