After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and
provide you with instant analysis. So it’s time to go
Inside the Box for
August 28, 2011: Diamondbacks 6, Padres 1

The Good:

In seven innings, D-backs starter Kennedy may have allowed six hits, but he hurt the Padres where it counts – the scoreboard. He only gave up one earned run. It also didn’t hurt that he struck out seven batters.

Collin Cowgill had a big day at the plate for the D-backs. He had four hits for the first time in his MLB career. Those hits combined brought in two runs.

The Bad:

While the D-backs won, new arrival John McDonald didn’t do much to help at the plate. In his four appearances, he did not get on base and struck out once.

The Funky:

Kennedy now leads the NL in wins with 17. His Sunday win also put the D-backs current win streak at six.
