Gerardo Parra got a promotion Tuesday night.
With Ryan Roberts and Chris Young getting the day off, manager Kirk Gibson shuffled his lineup penciling in Parra’s name in the two-hole.
Parra rewarded his manager’s confidence with a career-high tying four hits and two RBIs.
“He’s playing exceptional for us. He’s got a lot of ability,” said Gibson after the Diamondbacks extended their winning streak to eight straight games with a 9-4 victory against the Colorado Rockies.
It was only the 12th time this season that Parra has batted from the number-two position; however, it’s a spot he’s become familiar with since the club traded Kelly Johnson to the Toronto Blue Jays. He’s hit second in four of the past seven games, hitting .474 (9-for-19).
And oh yeah, Parra continued his solid play in leftfield with a sliding catch near the foul line robbing Rockies second baseman Mark Ellis of extra bases in the 1st inning.
