ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

At this point it’s up to the Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks will enter September with a substantial lead on the San Francisco Giants, one that seems almost insurmountable with the way the defending champs have been playing.

A division title firmly in their sights, third base coach Matt Williams said the division race is far from over.

“These guys know that this team in San Francisco, looking at last year especially in September, can get very hot,” he told Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf.

However, Williams noted the fact that it really doesn’t matter what the Giants do so long as the D-backs control their own destiny.

“We are in the unique position now where we can take care of own business,” he said. “If we win it doesn’t matter.

“You want to be in that position.”

Indeed, from here on out it’s up to the Diamondbacks. Barring a total collapse the NL West, and a playoff spot, are theirs for the taking.
