ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

Inside the Box: D-backs keep on rolling

Sep 1, 2011, 2:32 AM | Updated: 6:50 am

After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and
provide you with instant analysis. So it’s time to go
Inside the Box for
August 31, 2011: Diamondbacks 4, Rockies 2

The Good:

Josh Collmenter pitched six solid innings, leaving with a
lead before turning
it over to the ‘pen. Joe Paterson, Bryan Shaw, David
Hernandez and J.J. Putz
took it from there.

Of course, you can’t forget about Miguel Montero’s second
three-run home
run in as many days, as he gave the Diamondbacks a first
inning lead they
would never relinquish.

The Bad:

The Diamondbacks had a pair of runners thrown out at home
plate, never a
good thing. It didn’t matter so much Wednesday night, but
this cannot
become an issue going forward.

Other than that the D-backs took care of business, which
is all you can ask of them at this point in the season.

The Funky:

Justin Upton got hit by a pitch Tuesday night and the next
batter, Miguel
Montero, hit a three run home run. The same happened again
Wednesday.
