Inside the Box for
September 2, 2011: Giants 6, Diamondbacks 2
The Good:
Arizona took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning off a Miguel Montero RBI double.
Montero was the only Diamondback to have a multi-hit game.
Aaron Hill hit an RBI sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
The Bad:
Arizona starter Joe Saunders struggled giving up four runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.
The devastating hit was a two-run homer by Carlos Beltran in the third inning that gave San Francisco a lead they would never relinquish.
Sam Demel struggled out of the bullpen giving up two runs and only being able to record one out.
Arizona didn’t get much going off Giants starter Matt Cain all night getting only six hits in the game.
The D-backs best chance to get to Cain came in the first inning when they had the bases loaded but Gerardo Parra flied out to left to end the inning.
