Arizona Cardinals linebacker Jordan Hicks will not return against the Los Angeles Rams after suffering a neck injury.
Hicks headed to the locker room following a Rams field goal with 14:17 left in the first half.
Tanner Vallejo replaced Hicks at inside linebacker. Vallejo led all Cardinals with seven tackles at the half. He also has a sack.
The linebacker made his presence felt early on Sunday, picking off Rams quarterback John Wolford’s first pass attempt of his NFL career.
Two plays later, Arizona would cash in on the turnover as backup QB Chris Streveler found running back Jonathan Ward for the 11-yard touchdown pass.
Hicks also recorded five tackles and a pass deflection before exiting.
The linebacker entered the game tied for a team-high 113 tackles, 11.5 of which were for loss, and three passes defensed.
Hicks marks the second starter to get injured on Sunday. Quarterback Kyler Murray exited the matchup in the first quarter with a leg injury. The QB is questionable to return.
Murray had completed one of his two passes for seven yards before heading to the locker room.
