The Pac-12 Conference announced Monday that Arizona freshman guard/forward Bennedict Mathurin is the conference’s latest Freshman of the Week.
Mathurin over three games averaged 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals, all Wildcat wins.
That included a double-double in Arizona’s double-overtime win against Washington State on Saturday. The freshman had 22 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-12 shooting.
Mathurin is third on the team in scoring at 10.6 points per game and fourth in rebounding at 4.9 a night.
He is the first Wildcat to earn Pac-12 Freshman of the Week this season.
The Wildcats are off to a 9-1 start this season, with their only loss coming against Stanford. Arizona is 3-1 in conference play thus far and hosts the Southern California schools in Tucson next, with USC on Thursday and UCLA on Saturday.
