Towers pleased with D-backs’ organization transformation

PHOENIX – When Kevin Towers took over as general manager for the Arizona Diamondbacks, he inherited a club coming off one of its worst seasons in franchise history and was in complete turmoil.
Less than one year later, Towers has quickly revamped the organization into a team headed for the playoffs.
“Whatever the perception was externally that may have been negative , I think people now look at this organization as a positive and a good one and an organization that people want to be a part of and that’s what I’m most proud of,” said Towers on the Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf show on Tuesday.
Towers has spent many seasons around MLB, but places this year above almost all of them.
“It’s fun to go to work. It’s probably been the most enjoyable season I’ve had as a GM in 15 years.”
“It couldn’t be better than over here,” said Towers.
The D-backs GM credits having having one of the best clubhouses he’s ever been around with quality players in the organization as a major reason.
“It’s a band of brothers that are baseball players. They’re not talking about hunting trips in the offseason.”
“They want to play another month of baseball. To me, those are the type of guys you want in the clubhouse,” said Towers.
