Inside the Box for
September 14, 2011: Dodgers 3, Diamondbacks 2

The Good:

The Diamondbacks proved they could be the classier team on Wednesday night. Gerardo Parra was at the center of a potential bench-clearing on Tuesday night when he posed after hitting a home run a few pitches after nearly being beaned by a pitch. When NL Cy Young candidate Clayton Kershaw grazed Parra on Wednesday, the situation could have resulted in a brawl. However, the D-backs held back, let Parra take his base and watched as Kershaw and Dodgers manager Don Mattingly get ejected.

The Bad:

Though the D-backs won the series, they did not look too hot on Wednesday. They put together five hits over their nine innings and threatened the Dodgers in the ninth by starting a small rally, but they didn’t help Ian Kennedy’s case against Kershaw in the NL Cy Young race. Despite being ejected in the sixth and a well-thrown game by starter Daniel Hudson, Kershaw still notched his 19th win of the season.

The Ugly:

The MLB was so concerned with Tuesday’s incident that they told each team that they would keep a close eye on things on Wednesday.

#Dbacks Daniel Hudson said his understanding was that if he hit a batter he could be thrown out and possibly suspended.less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply
