Come playoffs, D-backs will have rotation decisions to make

Barring an unprecedented collapse, the Arizona Diamondbacks will make the playoffs.
Once in the postseason, though, they’ll have some decisions to make, especially with the starting rotation.
Ian Kennedy and Daniel Hudson are locks, and Joe Saunders figures to be the number three. If the team needs a fourth starter, who do they turn to?
“Who is it going to be,” Arizona Sports 620’s Doug Franz asked. “Are you going to go with Collmenter and Miley or are you going to ask Kennedy to pitch on three days rest?”
Franz said most would turn to Kennedy, but that it could be a mistake to do so since no one knows how the right-hander would respond.
“Ian Kennedy was not supposed to do what he’s doing; this is too early for what we would have assumed was his progression,” he said.
Franz talked about the number of innings Kennedy has thrown combined with the pressure situation as reason enough to avoid using him on short rest.
It would be a tough call, though most D-backs fans are probably hoping Kirk Gibson will have to make the decision at some point in the near future.
