The final matchup between the Arizona Wildcats and Arizona State Sun Devils in men’s basketball has been moved up more than a month.
The showdown, which was originally scheduled to take place at McKale Center in Tucson on March 6, will now be held at 9 p.m. local time on Jan. 25.
The rescheduled game will take place four days after the two in-state rivals face off in Tempe in their first showdown of the season.
The change opens up the final week of the regular season for the Sun Devils and Wildcats, which could be used to play any makeup games that are needed at season’s end.
The Sun Devils have already missed four conference games this season because of coronavirus issues within their program and on opposing teams’ rosters.
The Wildcats also have missed one Pac-12 game, in last Saturday’s contest against the Oregon Ducks.
The move means that Arizona’s final regular season game is now the team’s Feb. 27 game against the Washington Huskies.
The Sun Devils will now wrap up its regular season against Washington State on Feb. 27.
