ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

Diamondbacks ‘more focused’ than ever before

Oct 4, 2011, 9:56 PM | Updated: 11:03 pm

The Arizona Diamondbacks know what they have to do: Win.

Trailing their best of five series 2-0, their season would
end with a loss Tuesday night at Chase Field. Winning
three straight is a daunting task, but for now the focus
is just on winning one.

“There’s a little bit of tension there,” D-backs pitcher
and would-be Game 4 starter Joe Saunders said. “I think
everybody’s more focused than they’ve ever been today. I
can kind of get that vibe from the locker room, but I
think we’ll be fine.”

Manager Kirk Gibson, who said the team is probably looser
than it was before Game 1, is confident the team is
capable of getting the job done.

“It’s just been the type of team we are so we’re well
prepared for where we’re at,” he said. “We’re down by two
games. We’ve had magic all year and been able to overcome
it.”
